An award winning Fine Art Landscape Photographer based in Perth Western Australia. I grew up drawing and painting and later discovered photography as an art form through travel. I further developed my vision through stints as a commercial and architectural photographer. However, I found photographic fine art in the digital era extremely fulfilling as I could combine drawing, painting and photography in the one process and the freedom to express myself beyond a single photograph. The use of digital medium format equipment enables me to record an almost endless array of colour tones and therefore giving me the ability to interpret my vision into large and compelling prints.

My photographic art is both an exploration of new places and my own emotional, creative and personal growth. I am drawn to expansive land and seascapes with a sense of infinite horizons. A mental adjustment takes place with the clearing of emotional and physical clutter of day to day life.  Discovering the pulse of the environment and its character forms a deeper connection. My visual voice can wonder and create without judgement and a sense of endless curiosity.

Chris has exhibited his work across Australia and has won multiple awards internationally. His work is held in commercial and private collections around the world including the Capella Hotel and Resorts art collection. He also runs creative workshops in Perth Western Australia, and speaks regularly about his art and photographic journey. He continues to explore his visual voice from land and the air around Australia and beyond, interpreting his experiences as a human in this world.

Gear: I use medium format Phase One equipment. The resolving power of these camera’s is amazing but its not the main reason I use them. The true 16bit colour files give an enormous amount of colour depth and gives me so much leeway to pull out even the slightest of tonal differences.

I proof all my prints on my Eizo colour monitor and print on an Epson Surecolor 900 series before sending files to the lab. Both are incredibly accurate and reliable and give me confidence through the editing and print process. All of my award winning prints from the AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards and New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography Iris Awards have been edited and printed on these machines.

I use Capture One to process and Photoshop CC extensively.
